The Equipment Product Group (EPG) plays a critical role in enabling 200mm semiconductor manufacturing through the development and production of advanced gas abatement, environmental control, and sustainability solutions. Our technologies help customers improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support the increasingly complex requirements of next-generation semiconductor fabs.
The Site Lead Role
As the EPG Taiwan Manufacturing Site Leader, you will lead Applied Materials' EPG manufacturing operations in Taiwan and drive operational execution to ensure successful delivery of customer commitments.
This role has primary responsibility for manufacturing performance, shipment execution, workforce capability, operational excellence, cost management, and business results. Success requires strong cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence across Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Global Operations teams to achieve shared objectives. You will serve as the key operational leader ensuring products are built, delivered with excellent quality, and scaled effectively while improving cost competitiveness, productivity, and customer outcomes.
Key Responsibility
Site Leadership & Business Management
- Serve as the senior manufacturing leader for Taiwan EPG operations, accountable for safety, people development, manufacturing performance, delivery execution, and operational results.
- Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with business objectives, customer demand, and growth plans.
- Lead manufacturing teams to achieve shipment commitments, productivity targets, and operational excellence.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, execution, and continuous improvement.
Manufacturing & Delivery Performance
- Drive manufacturing performance through disciplined execution, operational rigor, and workforce engagement.
- Own factory output, shipment execution, throughput, productivity, cycle time, and on-time delivery performance.
- Ensure manufacturing capacity, labor planning, and operational readiness support current and future business requirements.
- Identify and remove operational bottlenecks to improve responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
Cost Management & Financial Discipline
- Own site manufacturing cost performance, operating expense, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and cost-of-poor-quality reduction.
- Establish cost targets, operating reviews, and corrective actions that improve budget performance and long-term cost competitiveness.
- Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and business teams to identify, prioritize, and deliver measurable cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety, quality, delivery, or customer commitments.
- Apply strong financial acumen to capacity, capital, make-versus-buy, localization, inventory, and resource-allocation decisions.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Demand, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Logistic, and Global Operations teams to ensure alignment on customer priorities and business objectives.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders to resolve operational challenges and drive excellence on execution.
- Coordinate resources and priorities across organizations to ensure successful product delivery and business performance.
- Act as the primary manufacturing representative for operational reviews, escalation management, and customer-facing discussions.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, AMPS, and digital transformation initiatives as core elements of the site operating system.
- Build a structured continuous-improvement pipeline using Lean, Kaizen, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, and standard work to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and cycle time.
- Translate improvement opportunities into quantified business cases, accountable owners, milestones, and sustained financial and operational benefits.
- Leverage data-driven problem solving and performance management to improve operational predictability, eliminate recurring losses, and sustain site performance.
- Develop leaders and frontline teams with the capability and discipline to identify waste, solve problems at the source, and sustain improvements through standardization and daily management.
Talent & Organizational Leadership
- Build, develop, and inspire a strong leadership team capable of supporting future business growth.
- Drive succession planning, talent development, organizational capability building, and employee engagement.
- Create an inclusive, high-performing workplace where teams can deliver their best work safely and effectively.
