By collaborating closely with our customers onsite to install, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment, and with our internal teams to improve business processes, you’ll make a significant impact on ensuring peak performance and deliver exceptional service, while becoming an integral part of Applied Materials' dynamic field team.

We empower our Field Service Engineer - New Graduate Program 2025 through comprehensive on-the-job training and the use of advanced digital tools and immersive technology, including Augmented Reality (AR) to support the systems and processes that underpin everyday semiconductor chip production.

We are offering a Fast-Track Graduate Program for Field Service Engineers in Europe, starting on October 6th, 2025.

The 9-month program is aimed at ambitious new graduates looking for an exciting career in the semiconductor industry.

As a member of the Field Service Engineer Program, you will participate in a blended learning environment where you will receive FSE certification through hands-on equipment training on Applied’s broad portfolio of products.

The Field Service Engineer Program promotes a broad, career-growth foundation. Your quick exposure to Applied Materials’ suite of digital tools and technologies, internal operations, customer requirements, and project presentations will prepare you for successful future career growth. 

Upon completion of your training across Europe (Germany, France, Ireland) and Asia (Taiwan, China or Singapore) or USA, you will be located in Agrate Brianza (Monza, Italy), which is a vibrant hub for the semiconductor industry in South Europe.

What you will do on our Field Service Engineer Program:

Field Service Engineers (FSE) are working in state-of-the-art facilities and at customer site, where they are the face of Applied Materials and an integral part of a vibrant and diverse team. They like to troubleshoot hardware, solve complex problems, and make equipment work better.

  • On-site installation and support of leading-edge customer equipment, performing scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance independently or as part of a team
  • Systematic troubleshooting and fault elimination of the systems.
  • FSEs work across technologies such as: Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal, Implant, Metrology, and Inspection.

Our College Graduate Trainee Program includes:

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge transfer, as well as international placements at our newest production sites in Asia and Europe.
  • Training on-the-job and guided tasks to gain experience. Supported by a local buddy, team colleagues, and managers.
  • Long-term work opportunities at our European sites with potential development opportunities in various specialisms.
  • Permanent contract.

We are looking for you:

  • If you are graduating, or have recently graduated, with a University Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electronics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Physics Engineering or other engineering related field.
  • Have an advanced level of English. A proficient level of either French, German or Italian would be beneficial.
  • If you are an EU Citizen or have the right to live and work in France/Italy/Ireland/Germany and willing to leave near our office in Agrate Brianza (Monza, Italy).

Your mindset is important:

  • Team-player with strong interpersonal skills and a building trust nature.
  • Exercise judgement based on data analysis of multiple sources of information like plant documentations, schematics, and hardware data.
  • Find solutions with different tools to get the machine running again.
  • Explain difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus.
