The OLED Patterning Business Unit develops new front-plane organic display technology and hardware supporting display manufacturers throughout the world. We are looking for a motivated, energetic Manager / Team Lead Mechanical Engineering to join our team in Alzenau, Germany, and excel in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. The Candidate would be responsible for driving development and commercialization of OLED Evaporator equipment, with a focus on high-temperature sources for metal evaporation, including:
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of direct reports as well as a matrixed development team of total 5 (2 direct, 3 matrixed) Design Engineers.
Design and Development: Own the full design life cycle from concept to manufacturing. Develop and improve design in a global environment with teams across several continents.
Research: Research and develop new technologies and ensure that new processes, designs and methods are integrated into products
Risk Management: Analyze design maturity & robustness to manage risk exposure to the Business Unit. Proactively drive Quality & Robustness improvements of the products.
Manufacturing & Sourcing Engagement: Ensure early learnings from prototype builds directly feedback into the design. Drive improvements and modifications based on sourcing strategy and supplier selection to optimize cost structure and quality.
Process Improvement: Identify improvements or resolve issues related to interfacing business processes within the Business Unit, or with Operations (Sourcing & Manufacturing) as well as Field organizations.
Customer loyalty: Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering on time product releases in accordance with specified requirements and solving complex issues
Travel: Periodic travel between Applied Materials offices in California, Germany, Korea, India, Taiwan, Japan, China, and others.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience vacuum coating technologies and knowledge of (vertical) OLED Evaporator design, with a focus on high-temperature sources as a plus.
Leading Capabilities: Experience in leading a functional team and driving design projects
Teamwork: Able to work in large, multi-disciplinary teams with strong interpersonal communication skills & proven capabilities to work in a matrix organization
Skills: Profound knowledge of Creo Parametric and TeamCenter,
Communication: Excellent communication skills in English and German
