As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining methods, operating sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. You'll work closely with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products, and you'll use engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements. Your expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. You'll develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies to identify root cause issues and solutions that ensure operational success.

The Test Engineer for Chamber Analytics & Matching will be responsible for developing, deploying, and sustaining advanced chamber trace analytics capabilities to improve manufacturing cycle time and quality, chamber matching, data analytics for troubleshooting customer production performance issues. This role sits at the intersection of Manufacturing Engineering, System Engineering, Design Engineering, and Global Product Support.

The Test Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Systems/Design Engineering, GPS, AIx, and suppliers to identify high‑value chamber traces, segment process data, establish control limits, and enable automated analytics and dashboards. This role is critical to ensuring chamber ship quality, supporting rapid root cause analysis, and enabling long‑term analytics ownership within Manufacturing Test teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Systems/Design Engineering, and GPS teams to identify, prioritize, and define high‑value chamber traces for analytics and chamber matching.
  • Analyze raw chamber trace data and segment it into meaningful process phases (e.g., pump‑down, rotation, extraction, stabilization) for evaluation and modeling.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineers and leverage chamber analytics to reduce test cycle time while also increasing chamber quality.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain guard‑banding strategies, control limits, and matching criteria to support chamber ship quality and manufacturing consistency.
  • Support pilot deployments of chamber analytics starting with ALD, MDP, and Etch chambers
  • Collaborate with AIx and data platform teams to enable data pipelines, analytics workflows, dashboards, SPC pushes, and alerting mechanisms.
  • Support chamber performance investigations, cross‑chamber comparisons, and customer or field‑driven escalations by providing data‑driven insights.
  • Document analytics methods, assumptions, and best practices to enable long‑term sustainability and repeatability.
  • Deliver pass‑down training to Manufacturing Test Engineers to build analytics capability, ownership, and troubleshooting expertise within the various operations teams.
  • Provide technical input to stakeholders to support BU buy‑in and alignment on chamber analytics strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline).
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing test, process engineering, equipment engineering, or a related role.
  • Experience working with Applied Materials semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in Mayan script programming and test plan creation.
  • Strong data analysis skills with experience using tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, control charts, statistical analysis, and data‑driven problem solving.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, field support, and data teams to translate technical data into practical actions.
  • Ability to deploy new test strategies into NPI, high-volume, and R&D labs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with ALD, MDP, Etch, and mainframe modules.
  • Experience with chamber trace data, equipment diagnostics, or chamber matching methodologies.
  • Experience building or supporting automated analytics pipelines, dashboards, or alerting systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing test bays and hardware variability impacts on data interpretation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex analytics to non‑data experts.
  • Experience supporting NPI, high‑volume manufacturing, and/or R&D lab environments.
  • Experience in Project Management and ability to develop loosely defined programs.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
