As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design of specialized indexer lift modules which are required to transfer wafers using precision motion controls on semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.
  • Work closely with technical program managers, system engineers, internal customer’s / stakeholders etc to collect design requirements & align on product specifications for indexer lift modules.
  • Work closely with motion controls engineers, software engineers, electrical engineers etc. to design & integrate precision motion profiles into indexer lift modules control systems.
  • Create mechanical designs & integration solutions for indexer lift payloads i.e wafer lift assembly & related components.
  • Work closely with OEM suppliers to develop new lift solutions to reduce costs & improve performance.
  • End to end ownership for creating designs, documentation, project management, preparing testing & qualification plans, procedures and performing functional test and qualification activities on indexer lifts modules in the lab.
  • Design & develop test set ups / fixtures for testing & qualification of indexer lift modules and related components.
  • Supporting manufacturing teams, product quality and customer quality teams & project management activities for the new and existing indexer lift designs.
  • Work as design engineering authority (DEA) to create design solutions to resolve customer issues, manufacturing & supply chain issues, components obsolescence, supplier transition projects etc. for indexer lift modules.
  • Participate in build & test activities to perform fit, functional & reliability life cycle testing on indexer lift modules.
  • Support troubleshooting of issues related to indexer lifts motion, vibration, sensors, software, controls interfaces & integration etc.
  • Work closely with volume manufacturing teams to review & align on change management strategy for the design changes required on indexer lift modules.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualification: BE/ B.Tech (Mechanical or Mechatronics Engg.), ME/ M.Tech Mechanical or Mechatronics Engg or related specialization.

  • Experience: 9 to 12 years of relevant experience in design, testing & qualification activities and experience in New Product Development process & sustaining activities.


Skills set requirement:

  • Hands on experience using UG NX & Teamcenter or similar design tools for creating mechanical designs.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T application and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Strong familiarity with precision / servo motor controlled linear actuator mechanisms & related components.
  • Good understanding of Encoder resolution, motion accuracy, backlash, brakes, repeatability concepts etc for servo operated motion systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with liner motion controls & software teams.
  • Experience in handling & resolving customer issues, manufacturing issues, component obsolescence & supplier transitions related changes on the designs.
  • Should have hands on experience in failure & Root cause analysis of components & assemblies.
  • Hands on experience in design, installation & commissioning test set ups, test data acquisition & test reports generation/comprehension.
  • Requires good project management & communication skills.
  • Should be good in multisite collaboration & personal effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with change management process.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills and customer-oriented mindset are required.
  • Experience working in a remote and matrix organization is preferred.
