As an Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for designing, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings to advance the equipment that supports our technology. Using your technical experience and critical thinking skills, you will perform engineering analysis, generate test reports, develop innovative solutions, and create documentation for product releases. You will also coordinate the procurement and assembly of components, identify sources of critical parts, and resolve technical issues to ensure peak performance.Introduction:
This position is specifically aligned to the NPME Group supporting the Display/SPG organization. As NPME‑EE is a relatively new function, this role offers a unique opportunity to pioneer and establish best-known methods (BKMs) while expanding your skillset. Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated New Product Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical III (NPME‑EE) to join our SPG/Display Group. In this role, you will lead the commercialization of newly designed electrical products and features, ensuring a smooth transition from early engineering concepts to high‑volume manufacturing. You will review, analyze, and refine electrical designs to improve manufacturability at both supplier sites and Applied Materials factories, while also owning the creation and management of Engineering Change Orders/Numbers to implement design improvements and kit structure updates. The position requires regular use of modeling and drafting tools such as P‑Cad, E3S, Creo, PDM, and NX to support design interpretation and release processes. Collaboration with global suppliers is essential, as you will work to resolve technical challenges, enhance manufacturability, and evaluate supplier process capabilities. Success in this role requires strong electrical design knowledge, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and the ability to partner effectively across engineering, supply chain, operations, and quality teams.
Responsibilities:
- Interfaces with Engineering functions to coordinate the release of New Products or/and product improvements. Owns Module/Product on PLC/CIP Program
- Creates Manufacturing strategies & Manufacturing sequences
- Verification of Schematics(E3S) & BOM compatibility
- Performs 3D DMU/ Virtual Builds on Electrical & Electromechanical parts.
- Knowledge on Engineering Change Management (ECO Process)
- Supports New Product documentation by OMS Creation for NPI/CIP Builds
- Launches/releases/approves and implements items/changes required for supporting design engineering and floor for new/existing products
- Interfaces between operations, design engineering & Global Product management to implement most feasible solution for Supplier problems, Waivers, Build issues
- Participates in New Product Builds & Champions issue resolution. Determines root cause analysis for issues that arise during assembly and/or test of systems; provides short term & long-term corrective action
- Makes recommendations for tooling, testing and process requirements. Uses DFx principles to reduce manufacturing and/or product costs, and improve delivered product quality
- Owns SMBOM Release to support Phase exits
- Ability to process Non-Standard request (BOM) for Systems and NSO
- Creates/maintains Master layout
- Performs controlled builds
- Engage with Volume Manufacturing Engineers, New Product Manufacturing Engineers, NPT PMs, Materials, Manufacturing Techs and Suppliers to transition from NPI operations to Volume Manufacturing
- Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies
- Participates in the development and maintenance of new business processes; edits as necessary to ensure current practices are documented
- Performs other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the project in progress and/or the specific goals of the department in which the incumbent works
Job Specific Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing engineering disciplines, including relevant theories, practices, standards, and principles.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes, including:
- DFx (Design for Excellence) principles
- Product development lifecycle
- Value engineering
- Engineering specification waiver processes
- Producibility/manufacturability analysis
- Product structure and Bill of Materials (BOM) management
- Product safety requirements
- Material handling, testing, and tooling processes
- Supplier issue resolution and root cause analysis
- In‑depth knowledge of key industry standards such as:
- UL 508
- IEC 60204
- IPC 620
- SEMI S22
- Strong familiarity with Electrical and Electronics standards, particularly those related to equipment cabinets (E‑Cabinets).
- Knowledge of cable harness standards and requirements.
- Understanding of relevant safety standards within electrical and manufacturing domains.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical data sheets (TDS) for OEM components.
Skills:
- Requires strong skills in Product technology, problem solving, communication skills, customer orientation, personal effectiveness, team skills, and quality
- Knowledge of E3S,P cad, 3D CAD tools (Nx,Creo & PDM), SAP, TcE, Core +
- Requires additional knowledge of systems and software necessary such as, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Flowcharting

- Candidate should be a good communicator as the job needs to interact with various stake holders like, Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Buyers, Suppliers, Quality Team etc.,
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
4-7 years of experience in a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of industry best practices, key business drivers, competition in the marketplace, and how your area of expertise integrates with others
Demonstrated leadership skills to lead small projects as needed
