The India Security Head will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all security programs across Applied Materials’ India operations. This role is accountable for protecting people, assets, intellectual property, and business continuity across multiple sites in a rapidly expanding and highly regulated environment. It requires strong collaboration with senior leadership, external agencies, and cross‑functional partners to ensure a robust, compliant, and forward‑looking security posture.

The role will lead the end‑to‑end security program for India, covering physical security operations, transportation security, BCP, emergency response, crisis management, travel security, investigations, regulatory compliance, risk intelligence, and security support for manufacturing and R&D environments.

This leader will build and maintain strong relationships with global, regional, and local stakeholders—including Government agencies, Labs, Engineering, GWI, Legal, HR, EHS, IT, and Supply Chain—to ensure alignment with corporate policies, global security standards, and industry best practices.

This role reports to the Director – Global Security (APAC Region).

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and execute the India Security strategy aligned with global and APAC Security objectives.
  • Serve as the senior-most security authority in India and primary advisor to India leadership on security‑related issues.
  • Drive policy implementation, audits, compliance, and continuous maturity of security programs.

Security Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee all site security operations across India, including guard force, access control, surveillance systems, visitor management, investigations, and incident response.
  • Lead security design and integration for new construction, facilities expansion, cleanrooms, labs, and high‑technology spaces.
  • Ensure the implementation of global physical security standards and technology platforms (ACS, CCTV, alarms, GIS, etc.).

Risk Management & Crisis Response

  • Lead risk assessments, site vulnerability reviews, threat monitoring, and geopolitical risk analysis.
  • Business Continuity Management
  • Serve as the Crisis Management Lead for India, coordinating with RSOC, GSOC, and Business Continuity teams.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness, evacuation plans, drills, and response protocols.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with India country leadership, HR, GWI, EHS, IT, Legal, Labs and Engineering management to support operational needs.
  • Engage with government agencies (law enforcement, intelligence, special agencies), embassies, and industry-security associations.
  • Provide security guidance for VIP visits, customer engagements, events, and large gatherings.

People, Vendor & Budget Management

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing India Security team, including site security managers and contractors.
  • Manage security vendors, KPIs, SLAs, performance reviews, and contract compliance.
  • Manage India security budget, resource planning, and cost optimization initiatives.

Travel Security & Employee Support

  • Lead travel security guidance, approvals, and support for employees traveling within India and internationally.
  • Provide security briefings, awareness training, and support processes for stranded, impacted, or at‑risk travelers.

Investigation & Compliance

  • Oversee internal investigations related to fraud, misconduct, workplace violence, and loss incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian legal requirements, data privacy laws, and Applied Materials global policies.
  • Maintain audit readiness and partner with internal audit and legal teams on regulatory matters.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Education

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, law enforcement, military, or intelligence roles.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing security operations for multi‑site organizations, ideally in high‑tech, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Strong knowledge of India’s security regulatory landscape, government liaison protocols, and operational environment.
  • Proven ability to lead crisis responses, investigations, and emergency programs.
  • Experience managing physical security systems, security technology platforms, and vendor ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, CISSP, CBCP.
  • Experience working in multinational corporations and matrixed global organizations.
  • Experience supporting high‑risk operations or emerging‑market environments.

  • This position may require participation in a 24/7 operational environment. Candidates must be able to perform essential job functions independently and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
