As a Systems Engineer, you’ll design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem-solving is essential as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced solutions to intricate processes and writing system specifications. You’ll be responsible for analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring seamless integration of subsystems. Additionally, you’ll identify and mitigate risks, confirming that our systems meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations.Our subsidiary, Mecatronix GmbH, with 35 employees, develops innovative, high-end drive systems using non-contact levitation technology. Together with our vacuum systems, which are already used for systems in the semiconductor and display industry, this enables the best possible production processes.
Join our R&D engineering team in Darmstadt to create and commercialize new controllers, sensors and power components for these systems.
Your Role as a Mechatronic R&D Engineer:
- Innovate in Mechatronic Development: Define, design, implement, and test active systems, and assembly for cutting-edge applications to drive innovation and reduce time-to-market.
- Design with Precision: Create Actuators, Sensors, Controller for levitation systems using modern design tools.
- Technical Leadership in Cross-Functional Project Delivery: Lead and/or develop and execute complex projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithms, and software design; attend design reviews and provide input to meet market requirement specifications (MRS) and hardware/software specifications.
- Action-Oriented Mindset: Identify and troubleshoot a range of complex engineering problems in field of technical expertise, including serviceability and manufacturability. Support System Integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs.
- Analyze and Improve: Perform failure analysis and engineering analysis of difficult scope and support continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure Quality Through Testing: Derive and structure test requirements to validate performance and support high-quality manufacturing.
- Document and Communicate: Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports and product specifications; specify and review engineering documentation.
Your Education and Experience
- A Master’s degree in Mechatronic or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, PhD degree also welcomed
- Proven expertise in development of mechatronic systems, including hands-on experience with Active Systems such as Active Magnetic Bearing, or similar
- 4-7 years of experience in a related field
- Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink, Python, and C/C++ language, scripting, and automation tools for workflow and system control is considered an advantage
- Strong skills in debugging and optimizing concept builds, prototypes as well as first customer tools
- Familiarity with electrical design and electronic schematics are a plus
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices, key business drivers, competition in the marketplace, and how your area of expertise integrates with others
- Excellent communication skills in English and German
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in interdisciplinary environments
- Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills to manage complex development tasks
