The Program
Join the Fusion Team in 2026! Fusion is a rotational training program within the Applied Materials Semiconductor Equipment business unit located in Gloucester, MA. It is designed to attract, assimilate, grow, and retain the most talented engineers entering the industry today.
During the first two years of employment, Fusion engineers go through a series of rotational assignments and work on cutting-edge designs to enable next generation technologies. The rotations typically consist of three or four unique engineering departmental assignments. These rotations help Fusion members and managers determine where the Fusion member will flourish in their full-time position at Applied Materials.
Program starts in summer 2026, on-site at our Gloucester, MA campus
Responsibilities
Our early career Electrical Engineers at the Bachelor’s level perform routine assignments under the guidance of senior engineers. You will develop competence in the role by performing structured work assignments while using existing procedures to solve both routine and standard problems. Electrical Engineers work with a range of technologies, including Plasma Physics, Automation & Control Systems, Motion Control, Power Distribution & RF power generation and delivery components as well as PCB analog & digital circuit design.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate the procurement and assembly of electrical/electronic components/equipment and identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve basic technical issues
Design or modify electrical/electronic engineering assemblies, layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of limited scope under direct supervision
Perform basic engineering analysis under direct supervision
Perform and generate basic engineering test reports under direct supervision
Generate related alpha/gamma documentation for product release
Troubleshoot a variety of basic electrical problems
Effective use of engineering processes in the resolution of generally difficult electrical problems of limited scope

Requirements:
- Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Must be in good academic standing with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
- Able to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions
- Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
- Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus
- Flexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven culture

$70,000.00 - $95,500.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
