Job Summary

The Senior Machining Operations Manager is a hybrid leadership and technical expert role responsible for overseeing complex machining operations while providing direct supervision and strategic direction to a team of skilled machinists and wire harness fabricators. This position requires deep technical expertise in advanced machining processes, a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet production goals, quality standards, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of machinists and wire harness fabricators, providing technical guidance and performance management.
  • Plan and prioritize production schedules based on manpower, equipment capacity, and material availability to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components.
  • Operate and oversee the use of advanced machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and CNC systems, to produce prototype and production parts from a variety of materials.
  • Perform and guide complex machine setups and operations, applying advanced knowledge of trigonometry and machining principles to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct and ensure thorough visual and dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices; identify and implement process enhancements to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Facilitate daily operational meetings, communicate build/test issues, and ensure alignment with tactical and strategic manufacturing goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and training requirements for all team members.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders including engineering, supply chain, and facilities to resolve production challenges and support business objectives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment.

Functional Knowledge & Expertise

  • Comprehensive understanding of machining processes, manufacturing systems, and operational best practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements, having a strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Skilled in data analysis and performance metrics tracking to drive operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in machining and manufacturing operations, including 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced machining techniques and equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality systems, and EHS compliance.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in environments with noise, machinery, and potentially in cleanroom settings with appropriate PPE.

U.S. Salary Range:

$84,000.00 - $115,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
