Position Summary
The Technical Project Manager drives high velocity execution of needle-moving projects for the Varian division of Applied Materials. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of sourcing projects from kick-off through enablement. This role combines deep materials expertise with project management capabilities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven execution. The ideal candidate will drive supplier engagement, manage risk, and align cross-functional teams to meet business unit objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead materials strategy and execution for complex sourcing projects supporting division level objectives.
- Manage end-to-end materials strategy from concept to enablement, including sourcing, supplier selection, and alignment with volume manufacturing.
- Analyze demand signals to crate plans that minimize inventory exposure and accelerate supply chain performance.
- Collaborate with engineering to interpret requirements and identify critical, long-lead, and inspection-intensive parts.
- Benchmark internal and external systems to integrate best practices into project deliverables.
- Align with program management to clearly communicate status, milestones, tasks, and risks.
- Monitor supplier performance toward program goals and escalate issues as needed.
- Drive resolution of supplier quality issues in partnership with engineering and quality teams.
- Provide business process expertise to increase velocity of execution across engineering, supply chain, and quality.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred; significant relevant experience considered.
Experience: 5–10 years managing sourcing projects in large organizations.
Skills: Expert level knowledge of supply chain and business operations; ability to analyze and communicate program impact to quality, manufacturing, planning and logistics; experience with supplier management and materials planning.

$120,000.00 - $165,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
