As a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will experiment, learn, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the semiconductor and display industries, partnering with our globally recognized R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects.  

Within our Sales and Process department, we are hiring an experienced Process Engineer to support our advanced etching development with our partner in Grenoble area.

Your role will be to independently develop, optimize, and sustain etch processes in a high‑volume semiconductor manufacturing environment and bring innovations from lab to fab. The role requires deep technical expertise in etch mechanisms, strong proficiency in chemistry and material interactions, and the ability to solve complex engineering problems with autonomy. The engineer will lead etch process development projects, drive innovation, support tool and process stability, and serve as a subject‑matter expert within the module. Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary to grow partnership with Academia labs and Customers.

Role & Responsibilities:

Process Development & Technical Expertise

  • Lead and autonomously drive ETCH process development activities.

  • Apply strong chemistry engineering knowledge to understand etch mechanisms, chemistry, and process parameter interactions.

  • Demonstrate solid understanding of device integration and module‑to‑module interactions.

  • Design, collect data, analyze, and compile detailed reports for complex process engineering experiments.

  • Perform hardware characterization on a range of complex systems and equipment types.

  • Measure material properties, interpret data, and conduct advanced characterization.

  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis using advanced metrology and analytical tools.

Troubleshooting, Root‑Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Troubleshoot complex process drifts, yield issues, and hardware‑related problems.

  • Perform structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and drive resolution plans for difficult process engineering challenges.

  • Implement new technologies, hardware upgrades, chemistries, and analytical instrumentation into the etch module.

  • Identify, select, and work closely with vendors and suppliers to introduce process or tool improvements.

Documentation, Reporting & Knowledge Development

  • Review and summarize scientific and technical literature to extract relevant insights.

  • Generate clear and detailed internal documentation, including process specs, experimental plans, presentations, and technical reports.

  • Publish technical papers and present results at major worldwide conferences.

  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and stakeholders to address complex process engineering issues or concerns.

Leadership, Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Serve as a technical resource for junior colleagues, providing guidance and expertise.

  • Lead cross‑functional project teams as needed, ensuring alignment across integration, equipment, metrology, and quality.

  • Engage with external partners, suppliers, and customers on advanced process development topics.

Your Profile & required qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related).

  • 10–15 years of directly related experience in the ETCH field.

  • You have demonstrated experience presenting at major international conferences and contributing to review papers or publications.

  • You have proven conceptual and practical expertise in solving complex and high‑impact technical problems.

  • You can work autonomously, taking data driven decisions

  • Fluent in English & French.

  • You build and maintain customer satisfaction through clear, consistent communication and responsiveness.

  • You can work within a team in a culturally diverse organization

  • You are willing to travel to other customer sites or Business Unit (5%- 25% of the time, depending on overall activity requirements).
