Position based in Bernin, Grenoble area (France, 38).
To support our growth, Applied Materials is recruiting a Software Technical Support Engineer on a permanent contract.
You are responsible for the installation, configuration, testing and validation phases, follow-up, customer training, and all corrective actions related to the software and network solutions installed on the equipment sold to our customers and used in a cleanroom environment for semiconductor manufacturing.
You work in support of our customer service and process support teams within the client’s cleanroom, and travel up to 75% of the time.
Main responsibilities:
Installation et configuration (35%)
· Install and configure software solutions on customer equipment in a cleanroom environment (MS Windows environment).
· Configure the equipment network to enable communication with the customer’s network.
· Improve existing procedures and document new ones as needed for internal use.
Customer support (35%)
· Provide assistance and expertise in analyzing the performance of installed equipment.
· Analyze issues reported by the customer or the local team on production equipment related to installed software.
· Plan interventions to resolve performance issues (configurations, software updates, data recovery, etc.).
· Escalate unresolved issues to a community of software experts to obtain solutions for the customer.
· Support the customer in developing and deploying new automation solutions (SECS/GEM protocol) in the cleanroom.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity (deployment of new software solutions, diagnostic tools, script development, etc.).
· Create an environment conducive to developing new business opportunities.
Testing & validation (15%)
· Develop simulation platforms replicating cleanroom equipment configurations to validate new software solutions before deployment.
· Test solutions using equipment-specific test plans aligned with customer requirements.
· Validate installation procedures and update them when necessary.
Projects (15%)
· Contribute to solution/product design, testing, documentation reviews, and conferences.
· Stay up to date on Applied Materials and external software and network solutions.
· Ensure internal training of local teams on software-related aspects of cleanroom equipment.
· Leverage proximity to engineers and knowledge of equipment to propose pragmatic and innovative solutions aimed at improving industrial performance.
· Ensure compliance with Applied Materials and customer quality standards.
Your profile:
· Master’s degree (Engineering School, Bac+5) in IT/Networks, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Maintenance, or related fields.
· Recognized experience in demanding production or maintenance environments (semiconductors, aerospace, medical, nuclear, automotive, etc.).
· Interest in hands-on, field-based work.
· Ideally, prior operational experience in large-scale industrial ramp-up environments.
· Ideally, dual skill set in IT + mechanical or IT + electronics.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and unforeseen situations.
· Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to build trust with various stakeholders.
· Curious, rigorous, structured, analytical, and adaptable to dynamic environments.
· Able to work autonomously.
· Fluent in English (oral and written), enabling interaction with international colleagues and customers.
· International travel is required for this role (up to 75% of the time)
