Position Overview
We are seeking a Frontend Tech Lead to own the technical direction of our web frontend—a performant, interactive engineering application integrated into a broader product ecosystem used by semiconductor process engineers.
This role reports directly to the Architect and works alongside backend, algorithm, and QA engineers. You will have real ownership of how the frontend is built, with the autonomy to get it right.
The ideal candidate combines deep React expertise with the judgment that only comes from maintaining complex systems over time—knowing which approaches will sustain the product long term and which ones to avoid.
Key Responsibilities
The Frontend Tech Lead will write production code daily, make architectural decisions, and set the technical standard others follow through delivery.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality web-based applications using React and TypeScript, writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code that follows best practices.
- Setting the technical direction for the frontend and making architectural decisions by recognizing scalable patterns early and guiding the team toward long-lasting solutions.
- Choosing approaches grounded in real experience—what has been shipped, what has been learned, and what works in practice.
- Personally owning complex technical challenges, including performance profiling, complex integrations, and architectural changes under real constraints.
- Collaborating with cross-functional partners such as backend engineers, algorithm developers, UX/UI designers, and product managers to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Conducting code reviews that go beyond syntax, evaluating structure and approach to keep the codebase healthy.
- Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Leading by example, with the team following your technical direction because it works, not because of a title.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of frontend development experience, with a strong focus on React and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience using additional frontend frameworks and libraries.
- A strong understanding of modern web development practices and design patterns.
- Experience building and maintaining complex web applications end-to-end over multiple years.
- Proven ability to lead incremental migrations such as framework upgrades, build tool replacements, and architectural transitions without stopping delivery.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to clearly articulate architectural decisions based on real-world experience.
- Working knowledge of backend technologies and RESTful APIs.
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools such as Vitest and React Testing Library.
Additional Advantages
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Experience using Git and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of micro-frontend architectures.
- Experience working with teams transitioning into web development from backgrounds such as desktop, embedded, or scientific computing.
