About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/d) with a strong foundation in precision machining and design for manufacturability. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on shop floor experience in high-tech manufacturing environments and a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept through to product release.

  • Develop designs optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency.

  • Apply advanced GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack analyses.

  • Collaborate closely with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, quality, and cost effectiveness.

  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD tools.

  • Support prototype development and testing, incorporating feedback into design iterations.

  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional team meetings.

  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with engineering standards.

RequiredQualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of combined practical and theoretical experience in mechanical design and manufacturing.

  • Strong expertise in precision machining and familiarity with a wide range of manufacturing processes including: 

  • Turning, milling, welding, electro-erosion, polishing, etc.

  • Proven experience in design for manufacturability and cost optimization.

  • Excellent knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up.

  • Hands-on experience in high-tech manufacturing environments, preferably involving precision mechanics and diverse materials.

  • Demonstrated success in vendor collaboration and project completion to product release.

  • Fluent in English, with good proficiency in German.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.

  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality systems.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
