About the Role
Join our R&D organization as part of the Verification & Qualification team, which ensures that new designs mature into reliable, manufacturable products. Our team operates at the center of the development lifecycle, using systems engineering methods (e.g., V‑Model) to connect design inputs, technical risks, and verification activities.
In this role, you will lead a structured risk assessment process spanning system, design, and process levels using FMECA methodologies. More importantly, you will translate identified risks and failure modes into targeted verification and qualification plans and then execute or coordinate the associated testing. Your work ensures that our electron‑optical modules meet performance specifications, achieve industrial readiness, and enter manufacturing with minimized technical risk.
This role focuses on engineering verification – providing objective evidence that designs meet their technical requirements and are ready for scalable production.
Key Responsibilities
Risk‑Driven Product Readiness
- Lead structured FMECA activities at system, design, and process levels to identify, prioritize, and mitigate technical risks.
- Maintain a continuous risk register that directly informs verification and qualification planning.
Verification & Qualification Execution
- Develop verification and qualification plans aligned with the V‑Model and based on identified risks and requirements.
- Execute or coordinate execution of verification and qualification tests, including designing experiments, collecting data, and documenting results.
- Ensure objective, traceable evidence for requirement compliance.
Manufacturability & Manufacturing Readiness
- Drive the transition from prototype to manufacturable product through structured engineering rigor.
- Enforce design guidelines and DfX rules to ensure manufacturability, serviceability, and long‑term reliability.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain partners to align product readiness with industrialization milestones.
- Act as the engineering interface for all verification and qualification topics.
Continuous Improvement
- Enhance and standardize FMECA, verification, and qualification processes.
- Contribute to knowledge management by capturing lessons learned and known failure modes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
Professional Experience
- Experience in R&D, engineering, or high‑tech industrial environments with established production processes.
- Hands‑on experience with verification, qualification, or risk‑driven productization activities.
- Familiarity with FMECA methodologies and structured V‑Model processes.
Domain Expertise (Preferred)
- Experience with electron microscopy, electron‑optical modules, or other precision instrumentation.
- Understanding of DfX principles and their role within a structured systems engineering framework.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- Experience with vacuum systems, high‑voltage hardware, or cleanroom practices.
- Exposure to reliability engineering or lifetime qualification methods.
- Background in low‑volume, high‑value manufacturing environments.
Preferred Skills
Risk & Verification Expertise
- Strong command of FMECA methodologies (system, design, process).
- Ability to define, plan, and execute verification & qualification experiments.
- Experience building verification plans directly linked to risk assessments and technical requirements.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Competence in data analysis, experimental design, and evidence‑based decision making.
- Familiarity with CAD tools, simulation software, and analysis platforms (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
Collaboration & Process Discipline
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong commitment to structured engineering approaches aligned with the V‑Model.
- Mindset for continuous improvement and standardization.
