As a Process Support Engineer (PSE), you'll play a critical role in guiding products through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept to final qualification. You will provide high-visibility customer support through on-site installations, system diagnoses, and the service and repair of complex systems and equipment. PSEs work closely with customers and R&D teams to develop leading-edge processes used to manufacture advanced semiconductor chips, and create hypothesis experiments and design of experiments (DOEs). You'll analyze data with statistics and compile reports with high-level conclusions on technically challenging process engineering experiments. Additionally, you will troubleshoot complex problems, perform root cause analyses, and resolve difficult process engineering and customer product issues. Process Support Engineers work across technologies such as: Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer Deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal and Implant.About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Process Support Engineer (PSE) to provide high‑visibility technical support for Applied Materials PVD / EP equipment in advanced semiconductor packaging environments.
This role is customer‑facing and works closely with advanced manufacturing teams to enable next‑generation semiconductor and metal‑package technologies
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on‑site technical support for Applied Materials PVD systems, including installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and long‑term process stabilization
- Support, maintain, and optimize PVD / EP processes for advanced and metal‑package applications
- Design and execute process experiments and DOEs, analyze results using statistical methods, and generate clear, actionable technical reports
- Diagnose and resolve complex process and equipment issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies
- Collaborate closely with customers, field teams, and internal engineering groups to achieve technical and operational objectives
- Leverage best practices and proven solutions to deliver practical and innovative process improvements
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior engineers and support small to mid‑scale projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 3–10 years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, equipment support, or advanced packaging environments
- Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and ability to work in physically demanding fab environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer‑facing technical support
- Proficiency in English for technical documentation and global collaboration
Preferred Technical Background / Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)
- Electro Plating (EP)
- System‑level experience with:
- Endura / Charger platforms
- Nokota / Raider platforms
- Experience supporting metal‑package and/or advanced backend packaging processes
- Prior on‑site customer support or field engineering experience
- General understanding of back‑end‑of‑line (BEOL) and packaging process flows
