As a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will experiment, learn, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the semiconductor and display industries, partnering with our globally recognized R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects.We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer (Chemist) to drive the next generation of chemical innovation in semiconductor integration. In this role, you will work at the intersection of advanced chemistry, materials science, and high‑performance semiconductor manufacturing, shaping technologies that enable our customers’ most ambitious product roadmaps.
This is a highly impactful position where you will lead complex development programs, collaborate with world‑class researchers and customers, and influence the direction of new IP‑protected chemical solutions across Applied’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Innovative Chemistry & Process Development
- Lead the design, experimentation, and data-driven analysis of chemistry solutions tailored for semiconductor integration, with a strong focus on developing next‑generation chemistries.
- Create IP‑protected chemical strategies, novel process concepts, and advanced test vehicle platforms to support product innovation.
- Develop deep, application‑specific insight into structure–function relationships, ensuring robust chemical performance in real-world manufacturing.
Technical Leadership & Cross‑Functional Impact
- Translate early‑phase chemical processes into production-ready solutions, partnering closely with product teams to ensure successful technology transfer.
- Provide advanced support to key customers, resolving complex chemical and process integration challenges across multiple product lines.
- Serve as a technical leader in supplier and academic collaborations, guiding external partners to meet Applied’s high standards.
Modeling, Simulation & Scientific Expertise
- Apply chemical modeling and simulation tools to inform precursor selection, process design, and material behavior understanding.
- Elevate internal chemical engineering capabilities and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
- 4–10 years of directly related industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in solving complex, multidisciplinary problems.
- Strong conceptual understanding complemented by hands‑on experimentation and data interpretation skills.
