By collaborating closely with our customers onsite to install, maintain, and upgrade Applied Materials equipment, and with our internal teams to improve business processes, you’ll make a significant impact on ensuring peak performance and deliver exceptional service, while becoming an integral part of Applied Materials' dynamic field team.

As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Lead Customer Engineer - Install/Ramp Coordinator

Leixlip, Ireland

As a Lead Customer Engineer focused on Installation and Ramp activities, you will play a key role in bringing some of the world's most advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment into production. Working in close partnership with customers, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders, you'll lead equipment startup and ramp activities while ensuring exceptional service, quality, and delivery performance.

This is a highly visible position supporting one of the world's leading semiconductor manufacturing environments, offering the opportunity to combine technical expertise, customer engagement, project coordination, and leadership in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting.

This is a regular day-shift position (Monday-Friday, 39-hour week).


What You'll Do

  • Lead equipment installation, startup, qualification, and ramp activities at customer sites.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing technical lead during key installation and ramp phases.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, service, operations, and customer teams to achieve critical milestones.
  • Drive issue resolution, escalation management, and troubleshooting efforts to minimise risk and downtime.
  • Monitor project progress and help align resources, priorities, and schedules to support successful execution.
  • Champion Applied Materials' world-class safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices across the wider organisation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Customer Engineers and field service teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer representatives and internal partners to deliver exceptional outcomes.

  • Experience within semiconductor, field service, advanced manufacturing, capital equipment, commissioning, or other high-tech engineering environments.
  • Strong experience supporting equipment installation, startup, qualification, ramp, or manufacturing operations.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.


For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
