As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.Key Responsibilities
- Daily Management:
- In addition to CE responsibilities, shift Leads primary focus is to help Ops Lead allocate the shift resources to best meet the customers expectation while mentoring, providing assistance, and training to junior CEs and PMTs
- Be proactive, looking ahead at upcoming maintenance and prepare parts/resources.
- Communicate and manage customers (PMs and CMs) priorities, needs, and expectations through Ops Lead.
- Review AMAT KPIs daily and drive improvements for failing CAP groups with poor availability
- Ensure no staffing is working on their own if not qualified
- Ensure all new hires/contractors/loan labor review sites expectations and protocols (safety, qualification, TRTs, and WSS)
- Help Ops Leads enforce and complete the priorities of the day by checking in on CEs, PMTs
- Assist in all areas of the fab and cover areas that are short resources
- Communicate escalations, extended downs and all matters of unsatisfactory issues to Ops Leads
- Assist with escalations/communications on all prolonged/chronic downs to CIP Engineer and Operations Lead.
- Also assist with open actions plans and ensure they are up-to-date so the on coming shift is prepared to resume where left off
- Mentor/Motivate/Develop CEs, PMTs
- Instill in CEs methodologies in daily work activities, i.e. troubleshooting, procedure writing and identifying areas of improvement throughout the site
- Provide Shift Personnel (CE’s, PMT’s) feedback to Ops Lead for Quarterly Reviews and for issues that arise thru the shift related to personnel issues
- Attend any required customer facing meetings as a representative of Applied Materials.
- Teams Meetings & Chats:
- Act as the point of contact for morning and end of day meetings with customers when giving updates on equipment statuses.
- Follow up with CE’s to ensure they meet the expectation of updating the team chat, passdown and site specific MES (manufacturing execution system)
- Present the morning stand down.
- TKM & Parts:
- Review parts are confirmed and returned within when received, removed, installed real time. Follow up with team members and remove any bottlenecks hindering part returns. Escalate if Team member isn’t being compliant.
- Review daily TKM and ensure availability of required kits for upcoming PM’s.
- Safety:
- Conduct a Weekly SWA (Safety Walk-Around), and coach CE’s to conduct weekly SWA’s.
Other Requirements: This is a physically demanding position that often requires extensive walking, standing for extended periods of time, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting up to 35 lbs., the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools. Additionally, because this position generally involves working in a clean room, it requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields.

YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
