We're looking for an experienced, talented Software Quality Validation Engineer (Image Processing) to join our team!

In Applied Materials Israel, we develop high-end systems for the world's most advanced chip manufacturing .Our mission is to ensure our image‑processing software and systems deliver uncompromising quality and customer value through risk‑based planning, holistic qualification and scalable automation.

What’s in it for you?

You will be a key player from early design through release, significantly influencing product value in a domain that touches nearly every chip manufactured worldwide - working with cutting‑edge, multidisciplinary technology and enjoying diverse growth opportunities across software, algorithms, and system quality.

What will you be doing?

  • Partner early with spec owners, architects, algorithm developers, and SW engineers to define risk‑based qualification strategies and success criteria, influence design alternatives for testability and robustness.
  • Prepare end‑to‑end qualification work plans for complex features and integrated systems, including methods, coverage goals, and quality KPIs based on our customers (semiconductor manufacturers) needs and use cases.
  • Review specifications and clarify requirements; proactively identify spec gaps and cross‑impacts across modules, performance, and usability.
  • Lead SW qualification - functional, algorithmic, performance, reliability, and integration - of complex image‑processing systems; design and implement automated test suites and harnesses (primarily Python or C#).
  • Build automated tests that exercise advanced algorithms and system flows using real and simulated customer data; maintain golden references, differential comparisons, and continuous regression.
  • Execute qualification plans and deep‑dive troubleshooting across SW, algorithm outputs, and system interfaces, triage issues, isolate root causes, and push corrective actions.
  • Analyze test reports for features of varying complexity, summarize findings, and recommend remediation; verify fixes and prevent regressions.
  • Collaborate with Product, SW Architects, Algorithm Developers, Application Qualification, and Field Support to prioritize test focus areas that map to customer needs.
  • Provide informal guidance and mentoring to newer team members; elevate team practices through reviews, knowledge sharing, and exemplifying quality behaviors.
  • Communicate quality status clearly to stakeholders, including risks, readiness, and customer impact.

What you should have:

  • B.Sc/M.Sc in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Material or similar)
  • 5+ years in multidisciplinary systems R&D or software quality validation.
  • Strong analytical mindset: self‑learner who thrives in ambiguous, high‑complexity problem spaces.
  • Proven problem‑solving and end‑to‑end troubleshooting skills across SW/algorithms/systems.
  • Programming experience in Python, C# or other coding language for test automation and data analysis.
  • Excellent collaboration, stakeholder communication, and the ability to work independently while leading cross‑functional efforts.
  • Leadership qualities, driving quality outcomes without formal authority;
  • Experience with algorithmic testing/validation (image processing, computer vision, signal processing) - Advantage
  • Experience within the semiconductors and microchips industry and manufacturing processes - Advantage
