This role is 100% onsite in Heredia Costa Rica. Must be currently authorized to work in Costa Rica.

Job Summary:

Responsible for managing all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with local and international regulations for Applied Materials Canada. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with international stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and forecasts for the subsidiary, ensuring compliance with both local and US GAAP standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile general ledge accounts at month end. 
  • Monitor and provide exception approval for group’s travel expense submissions.
  • Treasury Management: Manage cash flow (including providing forecasts), banking relationships, and foreign currency transactions effectively to optimize liquidity and minimize financial risk.
  • Payroll support - Collaborate payroll team to reconcile payroll payments to general ledger and resolve and discrepancies.
  • Tax Compliance: Work with a third-party accounting firm to coordinate and oversee the preparation and filing of annual Canadian tax returns.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A master's degree and/or professional certification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Solid knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance with internal control policies.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
