You will help prepare and submit deemed export license applications, coordinate cross-functionally to collect required technical and HR data, administer and improve Technology Control Plans (TCPs) to protect controlled technology and comply with U.S. export regulations.
This is a great role for someone who is energetic, eager to learn, and excited to build expertise in export controls within the fast-growing semiconductor and AI ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Deemed Export Licensing
- Prepare, draft, and submit deemed export license applications and related documentation (e.g., technology descriptions, controlled technology matrices, supporting narratives and records).
- Coordinate inputs with Engineering, R&D, HR, Legal, Security and other relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate technical and employee information is captured.
- Track licensing status, timelines, and agency requests; manage follow-ups and maintain clear internal communication on progress and outcomes.
- Support post-approval compliance requirements, including license conditions, restrictions, reporting and internal communication of controls.
Technology Control Plans (TCPs) & Controlled Technology Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain Technology Control Plans for controlled technology and projects involving foreign national access.
- Partner with Security, IT, Facilities, and functional leaders to implement TCP controls (physical, IT, procedural) including:
- access approvals and badging/visitor protocols
- controlled document labelling and storage
- system access reviews and permissions
- segregation of controlled areas and secure collaboration practices
- Conduct periodic TCP assessments and support internal audits to validate controls are working as designed.
- Maintain TCP documentation, evidence, and records retention in alignment with company policy and regulatory expectations.
- Assist with tracking and maintaining requirements for big IT projects
Program Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support the Export Compliance Manager with reporting, metrics, process mapping, and SOP/work instruction updates.
- Assist with export compliance training and awareness efforts—especially as they relate to deemed exports and technology controls.
- Participate in compliance reviews for new hires, interns, contractors, and visitors where controlled technology may be involved.
- Help identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve cycle times, and enhance data quality while maintaining compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Supply Chain, International Business, Engineering, Legal Studies, or related field.
- 2 – 4 years of experience in export compliance, trade compliance, HR compliance, security compliance, or related operational compliance role.
- Working knowledge of U.S. export control concepts (e.g., EAR/ITAR fundamentals, controlled technology, foreign national access, recordkeeping).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal) with comfort working cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with deemed export licensing and/or Technology Control Plans.
- Familiarity with export classification concepts (ECCNs), controlled technology assessments, and/or technology release analysis.
- Exposure to semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, hardware engineering, or R&D environments.
- Experience with compliance systems/tools (e.g., GTS, OCR/ECCN tools, ticketing systems, document management).
- Professional certification (or interest in pursuing), such as CUSECO, CCS, or similar trade compliance credentials.
