Role
Applied Materials is growing at a pace that is driving significant increases in headcount and facilities. As a result, we expect over the next five years to have the most exciting and active project pipeline in our history. In addition to enabling this growth, Applied Materials is also in the early phases of modernizing its entire global workplace portfolio, including our HQ campus in Silicon Valley. The Global Workplace and Infrastructure (GWI) team is responsible for all facilities, from acquisition through operation to disposition. Creating a compelling workplace experience for our employees is central to our mission. As a member of the GWI team, this position will play an exciting and important role in our success.
This New College Graduate (NCG) role is designed to provide early‑career professionals with hands‑on exposure to facilities operations, technical infrastructure, and workplace services within a large, complex campus environment. The position supports daily facilities operations while developing foundational skills in safety, reliability, asset management, and service delivery.
The role may include structured rotations across facilities disciplines during the first 12–18 months, with the goal of transitioning into a long‑term facilities or technical infrastructure role within GWI.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Operations Support
- Support day‑to‑day operations of campus facilities, including offices, labs, and technical spaces
- Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance activities for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, controls)
- Participate in operational readiness, inspections, audits, and issue resolution
Technical & Project Support
- Support small facilities projects, upgrades, and renovations under guidance of senior engineers or managers
- Assist with vendor coordination, work order tracking, and service quality monitoring
- Support commissioning, turnover, and warranty tracking activities for new or renovated spaces
Systems, Data & Process
- Learn and use CMMS tools (e.g., Maximo) to track work orders, assets, and maintenance history
- Assist with asset data accuracy, documentation, and closeout packages
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, cost, and customer experience
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with internal partners including EHS, Security, Real Estate, Construction, IT, and Workplace Services
- Participate in team meetings, safety reviews, and operational planning discussions
Learning & Development Objectives (NCG Focus)
- Gain exposure to operating and maintaining complex facilities and R&D lab environments
- Learn industry best practices for facilities reliability, safety, and compliance
- Develop foundational skills in facilities engineering, project support, and vendor management
- Build a long‑term career path within GWI through mentoring, training, and rotational experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Facilities Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Construction Management
- or related field
- Graduation within the NCG eligibility window (per Applied Materials NCG guidelines)
- 0–2 years of relevant work experience (internships, co‑ops, or academic projects acceptable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in facilities, infrastructure, or industrial environments
- Exposure to building systems, construction, or maintenance through coursework or internships
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on, onsite environment
Additional Information
- This role is based on site and may require occasional after‑hours support for critical activities
- Limited travel may be required as part of learning or rotational assignments

YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
