At Applied’s CTO group, we focus on enabling technologies for quantum information applications, i.e. superconducting qubits and optical quantum computing. Our primary objective is to collaborate with system companies and universities to develop quantum devices with significantly lower error rates compared to current standards. Our approach centers on harnessing state of the art materials engineering and semiconductor processing to enhance device performance.

To achieve this goal, we're seeking a passionate quantum scientist with strong quantum computing and qubit background to develop novel materials and devices for emerging markets and new technology inflection on quantum information. Responsibilities

  • Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on a variety of difficult process engineering experiments, within safety guidelines
  • Perform hardware characterization on a variety of difficult systems, within safety guidelines
  • Troubleshoot a variety of complex problems, perform Root Cause Analysis and resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues
  • Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations and technical reports
  • Interact with customers to resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues/problems with limited supervision
  • Measure material and device properties and interpret data
  • Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers with limited supervision
  • Implement new technology, products and analytical instrumentation

Work Location: Santa Clara - onsite

Successful candidates must be eligible to lawfully receive export-controlled information, without the need for the company to seek a license.  Furthermore, since the role entails work on a US government funded project, the successful candidate must also be able to meet the government’s requirements for eligibility to participate in the project, without the need for the company to seek an exception/extraordinary approval.    The government’s requirements include certain restrictions on nationality and association/affiliation with entities deemed to be of concern.

U.S. Salary Range:

$138,000.00 - $190,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
