The Senior Director is responsible for business partnering with C-suite level executives and their leadership teams on key initiatives and all aspects of financial management of their groups.  These activities include long-range planning, annual forecasting, fiscal close, management reporting and balance sheet reviews.  In this role, you will develop strong partnerships with senior leaders providing finance insight that impacts strategy and execution.  This includes decision support for headcount planning, investment prioritization, and general budget management.  In addition to direct support of the Corporate Functions, the role oversees the global bonus model, US benefits and the Applied Materials Charitable Foundation.  The position manages a staff of 8 (3 direct report) and matrix manages additional resources in a shared service center providing accounting & reporting support.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support multiple business partners across centralized functions with strategic initiatives by developing business cases and creating insightful analysis that enables management decisions
  • Lead portfolio prioritization process across functions ensuring funding is being directed toward high-value investments and groups are managing spend within targets
  • Lead team of direct & indirect reports ensuring accurate and timely completion of finance deliverables.  Work with team to set annual objectives for each employee and create development plans for staff
  • Drive annual budgeting, forecasting and long-term strategic planning processes for each functional area with focus on operating expenses, headcount and capital investments
  • Prepare presentations of financial results and provide value-add business analysis to partners
  • Focus on identifying and helping drive initiatives for cost efficiency, productivity, scaling support, and process improvements
  • Ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as requested by business partners and/or CFO Staff
  • Oversight of global bonus model, providing leadership with decision support for accruals and payouts
  • Ensure a strong internal control environment and integrity of financial statements

  • Proven competencies, particularly with communications, presentations, problem solving, time management, business acumen, analysis and decision support
  • Strong Accounting/Finance skills
  • Demonstrated systems & strong Excel skills

U.S. Salary Range:

$192,000.00 - $264,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
