Applied Materials’ Common Systems Software Department is searching for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team. Our department develops the software for the control system of semiconductor process equipment. This includes developing interfaces for advanced sensors, designing the data and control flow, creating algorithms for the optimal material engineering on an atomic scale and the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps and flow controllers. Other aspects of our work include the design of the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, machine learning and analytics, remote access and security.

Our Team

Our team develops software for real time control of semiconductor chip manufacturing equipment.  We also create control algorithms that optimizes the utilization of the equipment to offer differentiated value to our customers.

Roles and Responsibility

  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into architectural/software designs that meet business needs.
  • You will be designing and developingcode for complex software projects including optimization 
  • Troubleshoots a variety of difficult software problems.
  • Design and implements bug fixes, and prototypes the user interface
  • Create software specifications
  • Conduct technical reviews, create test plans for simulators, test benches or the lab
  • Develop software documentation
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, software troubleshooting and project scheduling
  • Quick prototyping of optimization models.
  • Profile systems to understand bottlenecks, optimize workflows and code and processes to improve cost of ownership.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency and professional experience in C and C++ is required.
  • In addition, experience in programming in several of the following areas is desired:
    - Real-time Control
    - Multi-threading
    - Optimization techniques and modelling, CP, LP and MIP
    - Embedded Programming
    - CAN Bus, EtherCat
    - C#, .NET
    - Visual Studio

U.S. Salary Range:

$152,000.00 - $209,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
