As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining methods, operating sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. You'll work closely with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products, and you'll use engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements. Your expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. You'll develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies to identify root cause issues and solutions that ensure operational success.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Close collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and qualify precise, high-throughput optical metrology and test solutions for the characterization and performance evaluation of materials, processes, and complex optical devices.
  • Collaborate with R&D and NPI teams to define measurement and inspection strategies for new technologies and products, ensuring design for manufacturability and smooth production ramp-up.
  • Define, implement, and refine defect inspection techniques and process monitoring to proactively investigate and resolve BEOL cosmetic defects and abnormalities.
  • Use strong analytical skills and statistical methods (like Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments) to interpret large volumes of data, identify root causes of yield/performance issues, and implement mitigation plans.
  • Work closely with process engineers, integration engineers, reliability teams, and internal/external customers to ensure seamless integration, address issues, and meet product specifications and quality standards.
  • Oversee the selection, qualification, installation, and maintenance of specialized metrology and inspection equipment, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Generate technical reports, documentation, and specifications, and train other engineers in measurement techniques and troubleshooting. 

Functional Knowledge

  • Experience in BEOL optics or semiconductor fabrication preferred
  • Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline or field
