The Hardware Qualification and Development Support Team (DST) Engineer plays a critical role in supporting hardware development and qualification activities for advanced semiconductor equipment. This position involves hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement to ensure hardware reliability and compliance with design specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Perform tool build, integration, testing and troubleshooting
Ensure tool remains up for Process and other hardware qualifications
Work with cleanroom facilities group to specify facilities requirements
Understand facilities availability and needs of the tool and work with the facilities group to manage & troubleshoot any facilities related issues
High level technical knowledge in at least one R&D discipline (Optic, Electronic, Motion, SEM): (1) Support R&D module owner in “Off & On Tool” Module Integration, Calibration and Qualification (2) Qualify Module performance to spec (on & off tool) (3) Support R&D Development (C&F) activities
Qualification of non-system components (isolated from application)
Define & execute Qualification plans; Define, execute and qualify calibration procedures (off and on tool)
Performs all standard service activities through Tier I. Able to perform routine preventative maintenance within established timeframes. Completes quality repairs
Responds to customer tool issues by communicating with other engineers and participating in escalation conference calls
May participate in projects to reduce costs and increase uptime.
Verifies operational quality of system equipment. Assists senior engineers as needed
Applies diagnostic techniques and use of documentation and test equipment with assistance from senior engineers
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems. Uses training and experience to identify some process, software or hardware related system problems.
Strives to perform BKM’s. Uses knowledge management systems. Follows all IP guidelines.
Assumes responsibility for complete customer satisfaction within work area
Assists in planning, communicating, and coordinating support plans with customer management
Complies with all safety procedures and consistently demonstrates safety as a value
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience in hardware qualification, testing, or development support in semiconductor or high-tech equipment industry, preferably in metrology measurement tools (usage & recovery).
Hands-on experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, and failure analysis.
Strong understanding of hardware design principles and reliability testing methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
