The Process Engineer provides high-visibility technical support to customers, ensuring optimal tool performance and driving technology adoption. This role involves on-site installation, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment, as well as collaboration with customers to optimize processes and integration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze trends, disruptions, and emerging technologies within the semiconductor and materials engineering sectors. Proactively recognize shifts in the industry that may impact Applied Materials’ product lines, manufacturing practices, or customer requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate industry inflections into actionable strategies and innovation opportunities.

  • New Process Application Penetration: Lead the evaluation, development, and deployment of new process technologies to expand Applied Materials’ market reach. Work with customers and internal teams to demonstrate the value and feasibility of new process applications. Support pilot projects, gather feedback, and ensure successful integration of new processes into existing manufacturing flows to maximize adoption and customer satisfaction.

  • Conduct cutting-edge research and development activities, generating data and insights that advance the company’s technological leadership. Prepare and submit technical papers for publication in reputable industry journals and conferences. Represent Applied Materials by presenting findings at industry events, fostering thought leadership, and enhancing the company’s reputation within the research community.

  • Identify novel inventions and process innovations arising from development activities. Work closely with the intellectual property (IP) team to draft, review, and file patent applications that protect Applied Materials’ proprietary technologies. Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging the documentation and protection of intellectual property throughout the engineering team.

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and product teams to resolve process-related challenges and optimize production efficiency.

  • Collaborate with global teams, customers, and partners to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and processes.

  • Maintain rigorous documentation of process development activities, experiments, and outcomes.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment between engineering, marketing, and business objectives.

Requirements

  • PhD/ Master/ Bachelor in Engineering studies

  • 3 years and above of process-related experiences in semiconductor industry

  • Prior work experiences in a technical support or field service role will be an added advantage

  • Resourceful and proactive mindset. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and build rapport with clients
