Role
This leader will be responsible to develop and help implement the forward-looking business strategy for SPG with specific focus on:
    Supporting new business growth maximize / optimize the value captured by Applied / SPG as the total semiconductor market grows from $600 Billion to $1 Trillion
    Pivoting to a solution mindset from the current product plus aftermarket service-dominated model
    Discovering and proactively meeting the emerging needs of end-market OEM customer verticals rather than those just of Applied’s direct customers, semiconductor manufacturers
    Exploring direct partnership/alliance opportunities with leading OEM end-customers
    Exploring new disruptive business model approaches such as X-as-a-Service, royalty, or value sharing versus current product + service sale offerings

Key Responsibilities: 
•    ~15 years of business planning, strategy development, and market/ financial analysis experience at a leading company, consulting firm, investment bank, or financial advisor/ investor
•    Strong problem-solving ability, coupled with ability to translate results into practical and measurable action (from theory to practice)
•    Strong team player with proven ability to build and motivate informal and cross-functional teams to execute against complex initiatives
•    Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation skills
•    Fluency with financial modeling (DCF, valuation, ROI analyses, etc.)
•    Ability to synthesize managerial implications and define action plans and associated rationales from large amounts of data
•    Familiarity with the high technology landscape, ideally semiconductors and semiconductor equipment as well as downstream system players (consumers of semiconductors)
•    Comfort managing multiple conflicting deadlines and priorities, and experience working within a fast-paced organization requiring a high degree of collaboration
•    Working closely with Corporate Development and Applied Ventures as appropriate on inorganic strategic opportunities.
•    Experience in managing a strategic planning process for a large organization with cross-functional engagement and prioritization.
•    Able to balance thoughtful consideration of potential options with the ability to solve problems, get things done and bring people along through the process.
•    Operational (P&L or functional) experience in relevant technology domains.
•    Track-record of developing successful commercial strategy with particular emphasis on new offerings and/or new business models
•    Systems-integration / solutions mindset, ideally with experience leading a transformation from a point product to an end-to-end solution-driven model
•    Exposure to M&A / corporate development and corporate venturing
•    Exposure to investor relations / external stakeholder communication 


Key Qualifications:
•    Identify, prioritize, and ensure execution against key top-line growth and business model evolution opportunities for Applied Materials
•    Execute against the above based on deep research into market trends, technological change, evolution of industry structure, regulatory changes, competitive analysis, existing and potential customer needs, and deep understanding of Applied capabilities
•    Size impact of potential initiatives, with detailed description of why expected returns will materialize, what are key drivers of value (including sensitivity of value), and what are key risks along with risk mitigation plans
•    Define key metrics, reports, proceses, and governance models to allow management of worldwide top-line growth initiatives and ensure communication with and alignment of stakeholders
•    Provide direct support to key business development activities (both deal support and partner and engagement/ management)
•    Beyond executing on pre-defined opportunities, work across the organization to generate, evaluate, and prioritize areas for top-line growth using rigorous and transparent criteria (e.g., contribute to an evergreen process)


Experience:
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with a preference for a technical discipline  
•    10+ years of work experience in the semiconductor industry
•    Strong project management skills and experience
•    Excellent communicator and strong collaborator
•    Dynamic, with an empowering and engaging management style; strong talent evaluator
•    Unquestionable integrity
