Tainan Display Manufacturing Center and Lab
Displays provide a window between people and the information universe. Humans crave information and we live in an era where digital information - entertainment, news, education, social networking, and much more – is readily available. Tainan Display Lab (TDL) lays a strategic role in employing deep display expertise to enable the next generation of displays. It is the world’s first combined display equipment manufacturing facility and R&D laboratory. The lab helps display makers transform their ideas into reality and pave the way for the next generation of displays.

TDL plays a key role in advancing improvements such as image resolution and quality, size increases, and new form factors as the display industry has evolved from CRTs to LCDs, and now to OLED. These innovations, along with reduced costs, have enabled new products and driven the proliferation of displays that create dynamic and stunning visual experiences for consumers. The facility, which occupies about 5.1 hectares includes two cleanrooms and a laboratory. It is located close to customers in the Tainan Science Park, to provide fast support to our display customers throughout Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Execute Experiments: Plan, conduct, and analyze complex process engineering experiments, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot intricate process issues, perform thorough root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare high-quality internal and external documentation, including technical reports, experimental findings, and presentations.

  • Process Optimization: Drive performance and yield improvements in innovative display technologies, bridging the gap between new product introduction (NPI) and mass production.

  • Integration and Process Development: Apply advanced integration skills—such as photolithography and etching—to develop and refine experimental processes.

  • Contamination Control: Lead and support contamination control strategies throughout design and manufacturing phases.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines to align objectives, manage discussions, and foster collaboration.

  • Innovation and Exploration: Investigate emerging technologies and propose novel solutions to advance display process capabilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Fundamental Knowledge of Photolithography: Basic understanding of photolithography processes, including exposure and development techniques.

  • Etching Experience: Practical experience with both dry and wet etching methods used in semiconductor or display fabrication.

  • Thin Film Deposition Familiarity: General understanding of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), or other related technologies in display manufacturing.

  • OLED Technology Awareness: Foundational knowledge of OLED materials, structures, and fabrication processes.

  • Materials Analysis Tools: Experience with characterization techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS).

  • TOEIC 800+

Desirable Experience

  • TFT Technology Insight: Knowledge of Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) structures, operating mechanisms, and design principles.

  • Display Module-Level Experience: Experience working with display modules, including integration, testing, and performance evaluation.

  • Cleaning for UHV Applications: Experience with precision cleaning methods for components intended for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments, with attention to minimizing outgassing and contamination.

  • Contamination Control Analysis Tools: Experience using analytical instruments such as Residual Gas Analyzer (RGA), Ion Chromatography (IC), and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) for contamination detection and process cleanliness monitoring.

  • Surface Treatment Experience: Familiarity with surface treatment techniques used during manufacturing—such as surface blasting, electro-polishing, or hair-line polishing—is a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Functional Knowledge: Demonstrates both conceptual and practical expertise in their own discipline, along with a foundational understanding of related technical areas.

  • Business Expertise: Applies knowledge of industry best practices and understands how their work integrates with broader business functions. Maintains awareness of market competition and key differentiators.

  • Leadership: Serves as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead small-scale projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.

  • Problem Solving: Tackles complex challenges by applying analytical thinking and offering fresh perspectives on existing solutions. Exercises sound judgment based on multiple sources of information.

  • Impact: Influences a range of activities across customer, operational, project, or service domains within their team and adjacent teams, operating within broad guidelines and policies.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Communicates difficult or sensitive information effectively and works collaboratively to build consensus among stakeholders.

  • Growth Mindset: Open-minded and willing to question assumptions and challenge the status quo. Eager to learn new technologies and continuously improve.

  • Team Orientation: Strong team player who contributes positively to group dynamics and shared goals.
